Back in 2006 I decided to invest in my business by purchasing a Bose L1 personal amplification system. Since then it has provided many an hour of dependable sound reinforcement. But it all came to a screeching halt last week when I was setting up for a weeknight gig with Shayne Pruitt. After our usual 10 minute set up, I clicked the power button but no sound.
Fortunately Shayne lived close enough to salvage the night by putting together a PA fairly quickly but I was still devastated at the thought of losing my sound system. To make matters worse, while Shayne was barreling across the North Georgia country side I called Bose support only to find out that they are no longer servicing the original model which happened to be the one I owned. My heart sank thinking that if I was to ever have the wonderful even sound that I have enjoyed for so many years I would be forced to fork out another $2500 to replace it.
Fortunately it didn’t turn out as bad as I expected. Rather than junk my old system and start from scratch, the good folks at Bose sent me a brand new L1 Model II for a little over a grand. I really hated having to come off with that kind of money this close to Christmas but a man has to work.
Hopefully I’ll be ready to hang it up all together before this one goes to put.
