Having been raised by a single mother Phillip Rogers didn’t come from opulent means. Indeed, despite that fact that he wanted a guitar from a very young age his first instrument was a trumpet because that’s what his well intended mother could afford. She hoped that the free lessons at school would give her son whatshe couldn’t.Chalk it up to a mother’s intuition or God’s prompting, but it worked. Phillip did well with his trumpet and gained a firm grasp on music theory along the way. The guitar eventually did come and as did a soulful singing voice that was polished by years of singing in his church choir the influential styles of such acts as Steely Dan, Johnny Winters and Loggins & Massina.

Phillip Rogers in Concert Today Phillip has taken all of his gifts which include a sensational way with words and molded them in to the guitar playing singer/song writer that he is. His songs get right to the point with unapologetically direct lyrics that reveal all the hiding places in the soul of the listener. The songs of Phillip Rogers may provoke you to you to laugh, and even cry. More importantly, they will always make you think.by Michael A. BeckMobile Production Monthly
